My 2020 Spring Capsule Wardrobe
It’s finally here! My spring capsule wardrobe has been curated and ready for wear. Now, I just need the weather to cooperate. Spring typically doesn’t last long in New York, usually this time of year a blurry line between winter and summer. For that reason, I historically don’t really care for spring clothing. This year, has been a bit different for me. I have had so much fun putting together this capsule, and dare I say, I may like it more than my coveted fall capsule wardrobe from last year.
If you are wondering how to start your own capsule wardrobe, I suggest starting with my step-by-step how-to post.
My 2020 Spring Capsule Wardrobe
Creating this capsule was surprisingly simple. I knew right away that I wanted to incorporate clean, crisp, light neutrals. Many of the pieces I had in my wardrobe already, which is the best part about creating capsule wardrobes. You shouldn’t have to buy 30 new items. That being said, I cannot link exact items for everything, but I always find a similar option for you to shop. The idea of these posts is to provide inspiration for your own closet!
This capsule is mainly for casual, every day style. Typically, I don’t plan for work, loungewear, or special events in my capsule wardrobes. I get this question often, but I keep my work and loungewear separate.
My final disclaimer, I use my capsule wardrobes as a guideline for the upcoming season. Strict capsulers DO NOT buy a single additional item for their wardrobe, but that is just not me. When I shop, I stay mindful of what I already have, and only purchase pieces that reflect my personal style and what I love. I go into more detail about this in my how-to post.
I will be featuring specific items from spring capsule wardrobe on my instagram, and will be styling them multiple ways for you. Later, I will pick my top 10 favorite looks and put them together in a blog post. Stay tuned!
SPRING CAPSULE WARDROBE OUTWEAR/LAYERS
For outerwear, I chose two old favorites from my wardrobe that I gravitate toward the most. My utility jacket is old, so the one pictured is a similar option. As you can see from the pieces I chose, I have been loving cream shades for spring. Typically, I incorporate a bit more color in my layering pieces, but this time I am keeping in neutral!

SPRING CAPSULE TOPS
My favorite category! It was hard to limit myself here. I ended up with 10 great basics that will be extremely versatile in my wardrobe. Both long sleeve buttons downs will look great on their own, or layered over the tees and tanks. When it comes to spring styling, I like to keep the color basic and light. I also love the clean lines from the stripe tees. My favorite retailers to shop basic tees are Target, Madewell, and Abercrombie.
I already have several basic tees/tanks in my closet, so I linked some similar options for you to shop!
Chambray Top // Long Sleeve Button Down // Floral Blouse // Short Sleeve Button Down // White Tee // Neutral V neck Tee // Stripe Tee // Linen Tank // White Tank // Accent Color Peplum Tank
SPRING CAPSULE BOTTOMS/DRESSES
My favorite item in this category are my new black ankle crop flares! I never thought I would fall victim to this trend, but they are so flattering and will pair well with so many different tops this spring. If you are under 5’3″, I would get the short length! The rest of my spring capsule wardrobe bottoms are pretty casual, since that fits the best in my lifestyle!
The green shirt dress is one of my long time favorites. Mine is old, but I linked this years version from the same retailer. It is made of Tencel fabric, which is soft AND sustainable! Also, the cotton T-shirt dress is another must have for me for spring and summer.
Light Wash Denim // Dark Wash Denim // Distressed Denim // Black Ankle Flare Denim // White Denim // Linen Pants // Shirt Dress // Cotton T shirt Dress
SPRING CAPSULE SHOES/ACCESSORIES
Both handbags are investment pieces, but I justify this because I only purchase accessories about 2-3 times yearly. That being said, I pay up for quality pieces that I know will last several years in my wardrobe. The two bags in my spring capsule are real leather, and go with everything (yes, even that pink one!).
For shoes, I kept things relatively simple. I absolutely love all the shoes I chose for this capsule, and with the exception of the gold espadrilles, they are ones that I have had for years!
Accent Color Bag // Cognac Crossbody // Neutral Flat // Open Toe Mule // Gold Espadrilles // Closed Toe Mule // White Sneaker
