Our Easter Baskets 2023
This year, when planning our Easter Baskets, I decided to use them as an opportunity to purchase spring and summer essentials. Both kids were going to need new swimsuits, sunscreen, sandals, etc., so why not put them in our Easter Baskets. Also, given the age of our children, 2 and 3 months, we don’t feel too pressured to add a bunch of candy and toys to their baskets.
Prior to purchasing items for our Easter Baskets, I went through both K and J’s closets and took an inventory of what spring and summer items they were going to need. I also went through the Summer Bin in our garage to see what we had in there that we could use this year (at the end of the season last year I stocked up on summer/outdoor toys). Then, I made a list of what I wanted to include in each basket. This helped prevent overbuying for me tremendously.
Another thing I decided to do this year was make Easter Baskets for myself and JD. Yes, I am putting together my own Easter Basket. Why? Well, mom and dad have had an exhausting year and we deserve a little treat too.
Before I share what I include in our Easter Baskets this year, I want to mention that this is simply what works for our family. Since these baskets will include most of our spring and summer gear, we did spend up and budgeted for this appropriately. Whatever way you chose to celebrate, and however much you spend or include is more than enough. We will use many of these items all summer, so the cost benefit for us is worth it.
How do you decide what to include in your Easter Baskets? I would love to hear more about your traditions in the comments. Here’s to making memories that will last!
Here is what I included in our Easter Baskets for this spring 2023.
Easter Basket for my 2 year old daughter:
- Pool/Swim Gear
- two swimsuits
- one one-piece and one two piece rash guard.
- a swim coverup, bought this way bigger in hopes it will still fit next year.
- a UPF 50 sun hat
- water friendly sandals
- our favorite sunscreen stick
- two swimsuits
- Summer Wardrobe pieces
- a new pair of crocs (K’s favorite shoe)
- baseball cap
- sunglasses (from the Target dollar spot)
- a pack of our favorite hair bows in summer colors (this is a subscription she gets and I will just be putting her March set in her basket)
- Outdoor toys
- a bubble machine (purchased last summer during clearance sale)
- pack of chalk (also purchased during clearance sale last year)
- A couple indoor play items
- this coloring book
- this bath toy, she will likely use this with her sensory table as well.
- A new book
- books are a must for every gift/holiday in our house. I chose The Honeybee, which will be great for spring and summer.
- A new water bottle and snack container (these are items she needed anyways so why not include them in her Easter Basket). We currently use these snack cups and loved them for the past year, but now that she is older she is getting frustrated with getting her hand stuck in the top.
Easter Basket for my 3 month old son:
- Pool/Swim Gear:
- one swim suit, a rash guard and swim trunks (both purchased secondhand with tags on!)
- this UPF 50 swim hat (hand me down from his older sister, but why not throw it in the Easter basket!)
- A swim romper coverup
- two washable swim diapers
- a new pack of pacifiers
- This cute carrot teether
- A new book
- this Pat the Bunny touch and feel book is great for the littlest readers!
- This winkle rattle toy
- a new summer outfit or two (also bought these second hand with tags!)
Easter Basket for me:
- I don’t need a new swimsuit. I have an old one from J.Crew (no longer sold) that I love and still fits well.
- a new pair of water friendly sandals (I previously had these same ones but they were worn out after a few years of use)
- a UPF 50 hat (I am a sun worshiper for the few months a year we have nice weather and need to be better about protecting my face and scalp)
- a new powder sunscreen applicator. I use it on my face and scalp where my hair parts.
- two new Olive and June nail polishes is bright summer colors.
Easter Basket for JD:
- he doesn’t need swim gear this year.
- a couple boxes of his favorite cold brew concentrate.
- a new golf glove (I accidentally shrunk his in the wash last fall, whoops).
- A UPF 50 shirt, for when he is doing yard work, or any outdoor thing really.
- A UPF 50 hat for golf (do we sense a theme? Loading him up within various forms of sun protection because he constantly forgets to wear sunscreen)
