Fall Wardrobe Essentials 2022
I am clearing out the cobwebs on this blog website to share some of my favorite fall wardrobe essentials! I was on the fence about whether or not I wanted to share this post, as I have been relatively quiet on social media. Ultimately, I ended up feeling a little nostalgic for my fall fashion shares, as that was the first capsule wardrobe I created 4 years ago (!). I have since abandoned the capsule wardrobe concept (you can read more about why here), but I do still find value in having a handful of wardrobe essentials to get you through a season. Some of the pieces I am going to share are old favorites, some are new finds, and you will see a variety of price points. Personally, I prefer to spend up for timeless pieces that will last for years, and leave the budget finds for trendy seasonal items.
I hope that you find some inspiration while you are here!
My 2022 Fall Wardrobe Essentials
Wool Topcoat // Starting off with the priciest item on the list. Living in NY, I almost always opt for quality when it comes to outerwear. Fall in NY is cool, and this is a beautiful timeless coat that will last you years to come. I have a similar J. Crew tan coat that has been in my closet for over 5 years!
Quilted Puffer Coat // If you are not a fan of the trendier bulky puffer option, this is a great alternative. You can likely find less expensive options for this at other retailers, but I think the sleeker look of this quilted puffer will be more of a classic wardrobe item.
Quarter Zip Sweatshirt // Zip up sweatshirts are everywhere! I love the color of this one and the $25 price tag.
Shaker Stitch Cardigan // This is a budget friendly item that does not compromise on quality. I have several of these cotton cardigans and they have held up in my wardrobe extremely well.
Textured Knit Tunic Sweater // A tunic sweater is always an easy outfit staple. This color is perfect for fall!
Fisherman Sweater // how beautiful is this new arrival from ABLE? It is truly a timeless wardrobe piece, and would also make a great gift for a loved one. You can get 15% off your ABLE order with my code ‘KRISTEN15’
Chunky Knit Mock Neck Sweater // I purchased this last year and am happy to see it return this season. It is definitely a heavy knit, so warm climate friends I would skip this. If you are a cold climate gal, this is for you! It comes in tons of colors and is $25. Personally, I did not find it to be too cropped and it fit true to size.
Striped Layering Tee // If you have been here for a bit, you have likely heard me rave about this tee to exhaustion. I have it in 4 colors now. It is the softest, most luxurious modal blend. It is also super bump friendly (just size up 1). I have yet to find a long sleeve tee that compares!
White Tee // a basic cotton tee that many of you likely have in your closet already, but I just had to include it!
White Button Down // Crisp white button downs are still in style, and even more trendy this fall! My all time favorite is this one from Madewell. I like the short sleeves so I can easily layer with a cardigan. It fits oversized so I would go down one size in this.
Ribbed Sweater Dress // My sweater dress pick this year is from Old Navy, but it sadly sold out in most sizes quick. Here is a similar option at a great price point! I choose sleeveless for easy (less bulky) layering with cardigans, button downs, and crew neck sweaters.
Medium Wash Straight Leg Denim // I am not ready to give up my skinny jeans just yet, but in the spring I discovered Madewell’s Perfect Vintage Jean, and they are helping me ease in to some more relaxed style denim.
Black Wash Denim // I love the look of raw hem on black wash denim!
Faux Leather Leggings // Are these still in style? I have no idea, but I am still wearing them proudly. They truly go with everything in my closet. Size up one size!
White Sneakers // These are a great affordable alternative to my favorite Madewell sneakers. They are selling quick! I find that sneakers in this line fit true to size.
Cognac Mule // Another classic shoe that you have likely seen featured on this site many times before! I love how the leather on these forms to your foot over time. I go up a half size in mules.
Taupe Bootie // If you are looking for a good weatherproof and stylish shoe, I highly recommend these from Blondo. I love their boots for fall and winter!
Lug Sole Boot // The ‘it’ shoe for fall and winter. I am proud to say that I discovered them last year before they were super popular. They are popular for good reason! Skip the dupe option at Target if you can on these, they are a quality shoe that will hold up to the elements. The boot material itself is so much more flexible and comfortable than the budget alternatives.
Cognac Crossbody Bag // I love all my leather goods from ABLE. If you are looking to invest in a bag this season, they have so many beautiful options. You can get 15% off with my code ‘KRISTEN15’
