Best Games for Couples and Families
We have always been big board game people in the Maas Household. Lately though, we have been playing them more often since we are stuck indoors. So many of you have been asking for the best games for couples and families, so today I am going to share a few of our favorites.
Keep in mind, we don’t have children! The games I am going to share are either best for couples, adults, or families with older children. If you have any games that you like to play with your family, please share them! We love trying out new ones!
Best Games for Couples and Families
Quixx // This one is the best for two people! It is a fun strategic dice game, we can get pretty competitive with this and it is so much fun! We are actually almost out of the scoresheets, and need to buy more (you can get them on Amazon).
Sushi Go // Another game that you can play with two people, but is more fun with 3 or more. You could play this one with school age kids too! We had to read through the rules a couple of times, but once we figured it out, it moved quickly! Basically, to goal is to collect the most ‘high value’ sushi by being strategic.
DOS // A twist on the classic UNO game! You can play this with 2-4 people.
Settlers of Catan // We went through a phase where all we did was play this game with our friends and family. If you have family members who like to bet or barter, they will love this. Set aside some time for the first time you play, you will need to move slowly to learn the rules. Once you get the hang of it though, it is so fun. It is basically a more intense game of monopoly.
Our Moments Couples // Not really a game, but I am including it anyways because we love it! These are a bunch of fun topics meant to start conversations with your significant other. JD and I have been together for 10 years and we STILL learn something about each other by doing these. Sometimes they spark a 45 minute conversation about 1 topic and it is so fun. We bring them on trips, long car rides, and sometimes even bars/restaurants.
Incoherent // This game is HILARIOUS. We played this recently with my family and my face hurt from laughing so hard. You split into teams and read jumbled up versions of a sentence out loud to try to guess what they are supposed to say. Some of the cards are a bit inappropriate, so it’s more for adults!
Amazed by Neil Patrick Harris // This game is for the intense board game player only. It is a team game where you solve puzzles, riddles, and secret codes. It is HARD, but doable. If you have someone who is good with riddles and metaphors, they will love this. My mom is shockingly good at this game and can always figure out the codes. The game board can also be arranged 16 different ways, so it never gets repetitive!
