Favorite Activity Books for Kids
Activity books get a lot of use in our home! We use them primarily when we are out and about at public places like restaurants, appointments, when we travel, etc. When I was on maternity leave, I used them at home to keep our toddler entertained during feedings or when I was caring for the baby. It took some practice, but now she loves her activity books and they are a special treat for her when we are on the go!
In order to preserve the novelty, we keep these in our car or stored away where we can bring them out for a rainy/snowy day. This is just what works best for us in a household of two working parents! You know your child best, of course. I think they would be great to incorporate during quiet time or whenever you can integrate fun activity books into your day!
Here are some of our (and our toddler’s) favorite activity books for kids:
First Sticker Book || Right now our daughter is really into the zoo animal and princess sticker books! There are different types of scenes for kids to fill up with stickers! Looking for sticker books for older children? You can find those here!
First Magic Painting || Paint is something that I just cannot do as a parent, we all have our thing. I discovered these magic painting books and want to hug whoever invented them. All you do is wet the paint brush with water and the color appears on the page! Minimal clean up and my daughter loves the novelty of this. We also love these paint with water books!
My Big Wimmelbook || These seek and find books are the best! We started using them when our daughter was two years old and she was hooked. We keep them in our car and she will read them on long drives.
Water Wonder Books || Another toddler and parent fan favorite in our house. I love that they are reusable and minimal clean up. They are portable and perfect for travel/restaurants. We also love these Melissa and Doug ones!
Simple and Big Coloring Book for Toddlers || We have several coloring books in the house, but this is the one we reach for over and over. The coloring pages are simple with clean lines, easy for toddlers learning to concentrate and coordinate their fine motor skills!
Laundry Day Sort + Play || This book is adorable. It is a little tougher to keep contained because of the felt pieces, but our daughter has a lot of fun with interactive books like this. It comes with 10 felt pieces and your child can ‘do the laundry’ from start to finish!
Wipe Clean Books || I haven’t tried these yet, but they are on my list for upcoming holiday/birthday gifts. Similar to water wonder books, these can be reused again and again!
There you have it, some of our favorite activity books for kids! Please share your favorites in the comments below, we are always looking for new ones!
